Life, Death, and Rebirth
The finale of Lost was done superbly. I cried. I can't wait to someday re-watch the whole series!
In the episode previous to the finale, Jacob, who had been resurrected temporarily by the act of burning his cremation ashes, explained to Kate, Hurley, Jack, and Sawyer about someone needing to take over the role of island protector. In doing so, he said that he had been appointed and chosen to take on this role but wished he had had a choice. Jacob asked if anyone would be willing to take over the role, and Jack volunteered. Jacob then went through the ritual of having Jack drink from a cup. It seemed Jacob might have turned some water into wine, but we're never sure. We go into the finale knowing that Jack is taking over the role of island protector.

I was blown away by the season finale of Lost. I had a hard time not crying out loud. I'm not even sure I can put into words the beauty of this final episode. Don't read the rest if you haven't seen the finale. I might write more on this some day. I surely will rewatch the entire series some day, but not for a while. I want to give it time to sink in and formulate clear words. I want to watch the whole thing and have it be fresh again. What a wonderful story.

Awwww. . . so good to see this week's episode of Lost focus on love, and bring back Penny, Desmond, Charlie, Eloise, and Daniel all in one episode. It was a beautiful episode! Only 6 episodes left, and then I will probably just rewatch the whole thing once we get season 6 on Blu-Ray.

Genie in a Bottle

One of the things I thought of last Tuesday night, when watching Lost, was Jacob's bottle with a cork and his one wish to Richard. This yelled "Genie" to me, though in all the reviews I've read I hadn't come across any that talked about Lost's grand spectrum of mythology to include that of the jinn or Djinn, a supernatural being existing in a world parallel to mankind. Various cultures have various views of genies (derived from jinn/Djinn), including versions of ones who are associated with the sea (marids) and those who live beneath abandoned buildings, especially ruins (ifrits). Oh hello, Smokey! There's even a mention of one being like a smokeless fire.

I'm Not Time Traveling
This was a gift from Jacob. Only. . . It's not a gift at all. It's a curse.

I've got some time to write before heading over to Sam and Monica's for dinner, and then going on a "double-date" to see Alice in Wonderland. We actually already saw it, but it's pretty good. P.S. This post is about time and traveling.
